| Unit Description |
This unit covers the sociolinguistics of multilingual societies and the linguistic results of contact between language varieties. Specific topics include multilingualism, code-switching, convergence and diffusion, language maintenance and shift, pidgin and creole languages, dialect leveling and the development of new varieties. |
