| Unit Description |
Horticulture is a multidisciplinary field of study integrating science, technology and art. This unit covers important horticultural enterprises including viticulture, floriculture and urban/landscape horticulture. Emerging themes in many areas of horticulture such as horticulture therapy (the role of horticulture in human health), neutriceutical industries, arboriculture, organic horticulture, biotechnology, biosecurity, postharvest technologies, climate change and horticulture, managing horticulture enterprises and export will be discussed as part of the three major themes (horticulture physiology, horticulture environment and major horticultural enterprises) in this unit. Laboratory work, greenhouse experiments, field trips, videos and students symposia are integral parts of this unit helping participants to develop a global perspective of horticulture. |
