| Unit Description |
The unit explores some of the many ways in which 'place' is a part of our lives, personally and socially. For example, emotional bonds with places can contribute to our sense of personal identity. At the same time, places are shared and/or disputed. Place is the arena in which social life takes place, and in which power is visibly or invisibly exercised. Place is a history book. Place is a battleground. Place is a product to be marketed. Or maybe, in today's world, place is no longer so important? Assessment for 400-level units will entail more advanced work than in 300-level units. |
