| Unit Description |
This unit focuses on aspects of tectonics and structural geology, and includes an nine day residential school. The theory component of the unit includes study of mechanical principles of rock deformation; study of folds, fabrics and faults, and various tectonic processes and structures. Practical work includes interpretation of structural data, stereographic projections, and the study of rock structures in hand specimen. A five day field excursion will allow observation and interpretation of various tectonic and structural components of the Southern New England Fold Belt. |
