Unit Description

One excursion of 12 days duration with appropriate reporting and seminar presentations. Topics include regional stratigraphic mapping and sedimentary environmental interpretation; aspects of igneous and metamorphic petrology, regional tectonics and structure, and mineral deposit and regolith geology. Internal and external students do this unit together at the residential school which constitutes the field excursion. In 2007, it is planned the excursion will be to western NSW and South Australia.
