ECT303 - Research in Writing |
||||||
| Coordinator(s) | Leonie Rutherford (lrutherf@une.edu.au) | ||||||
| Unit Description |
The unit focuses on the enhancement of research skills for writing. It examines a broad range of English-language genres and texts. It introduces students to the major research tools (print, electronic, web) for textual study in English, and the skills appropriate to their use. The unit lays particular stress on evaluating the authority and appropriateness of research sources to selected writing genres. Students will apply research skills they have learned successfully to plan and execute a writing project. The projects will be based on case studies which generate applications for writing in English, for example: a communications policy report, a political editorial, a science magazine article. |
