| Unit Description |
This unit introduces the principles of ecology through increasingly complex levels of biological organization (populations, communities and ecosystems). These levels are examined and compared in terms of their composition, how they are structured, and the way that they function. The limitations imposed by natural resources and conditions in the Australian environment are emphasized. Practical work focuses upon populations and communities, their composition and structure, and how they function within an ecosystem context. ECOL 510 is based on the undergraduate unit ECOL 210 with additional load consisting of extra questions on assignments and examinations requiring a greater level of understanding of the unit material is expected. |
