Unit Description

This unit focuses on water as an environment. Aquatic ecosystems are considered from upland streams through wetlands and lowland rivers to the sea. Student outcomes will be an understanding of longitudinal spatial patterns and processes, contrasts between inland waters and marine systems, and links to terrestrial environments. Expertise in sampling these environments will also be developed. ECOL 502 is based on the undergraduate unit ECOL 202 with additional load consisting of extra questions on assignments and examinations requiring a greater level of understanding of the unit material.
