| Unit Description |
A programming environment provided by an operating system is an integrated user interface for the various tasks involved in developing programs. The concepts of operating systems, utilities and devices are illustrated via an intensive case study of the UNIX operating system. COMP 580 is based on the undergraduate unit COMP 280 with additional load consisting of extra questions on assignments and examinations and candidates for COMP 580 will be expected to show a greater level of understanding of the unit material than that required for COMP 280. Students who complete COMP 280 are not permitted to enrol for COMP 580. |
