Unit Description

Two lectures and a two-hour laboratory session per week. This unit provides an introduction to the area of parallel and distributed computing. Topics include: processes, interprocess communication, multithreaded programming, thread synchronisation, and programming parallel virtual machines (PVM and MPI). External students should see COMP 280 for computer requirements.
