Unit Description

Software projects are often not completed in time and within budget. This unit studies the characteristics of software systems that make project management challenging, and teaches the principles of software project management, in particular, requirements elicitation, software effort estimation, professional ethics, quality control, planning and scheduling in software life cycle processes, team effort and risk management. COMP 593 is based on the undergraduate unit COMP 393 with additional load consisting of extra questions on assignments and examinations and candidates for COMP 593 will be expected to show a greater level of understanding of the unit material than that required for COMP 393. Students who complete COMP 393 are not permitted to enrol for COMP 593.
