| Unit Description |
CHEM 130 provides an introduction to the basic concepts and tools of chemistry, with an emphasis on their application to studies of the Earth and its natural resources (ores and minerals, the atmosphere, oceans, rivers and lakes), agriculture, and life and environmental sciences. It will enable non-science students to utilise basic chemical tools and apply them with confidence to disciplines outside chemistry, as well as provide the chemical literacy to enable them to extend their knowledge and skills where necessary. Assessment is by assignments, practical exercises and an examination. |
