| Unit Description |
This unit provides an introduction to the algae and vascular plants of marine and inland waters and how plants survive, grow, reproduce and evolve in a range of aquatic habitats. The aquatic environment imposes a number of stresses (eg low oxygen, salinity) on vascular and non-vascular plants and this unit will help you understand the mechanisms that plants have evolved to cope with these stresses. Examples will be drawn from Australian aquatic systems. Assessment consists of field work, a project report, an essay and a theory examination. |
