Master of Resource Science

Why study the Master of Resource Science at UNE?

The Master of Resource Science is an advanced research degree taken by thesis only. This course is suited to candidates wishing to pursue a particular research topic related to the management of natural resources with the objective of entering a research based rather than a management based career. Candidates are normally required to complete a preliminary examination which may consist of coursework and/or a research project and/or a literature review. The preliminary examination is part of the normal period of candidature. Those candidates who have completed the Graduate Diploma in Natural Resources at the required level or whose entry qualifications are deemed equivalent to the Bachelor of Natural Resources with Honours will be exempted from the preliminary examination.

Entry Requirements

The normal requirement for admission to the degree is a four-year degree from a recognised tertiary institution. Applicants with a three-year degree plus substantial research experience may also be considered. Applicants who do not meet these admission requirements will be required to complete either the Master of Resource Science Qualifying course or the Graduate Diploma in Natural Resources.*External candidates must have access to appropriate research facilities and on-site supervision.
