Master of Health Science
Why study the Master of Health Science at UNE?
This distance education course provides existing health care professionals with a knowledge of the properties, desired effects and safety issues of the Western herbal medicines commonly prescribed and dispensed by health care professionals. The options for treatment relevant to a wide range of common conditions encountered by health care professionals and the selection of appropriate and individual treatments, including recommendations on dosage, are examined.
The application, practice and marketing of herbal medicine is encompassed using a professional framework for practice that is based on the perceived individual needs of the patient, current scientific research, acknowledgement of herbal medicine traditions and principles of evidence-based practice.
The Master of Health Science (Herbal Medicine) course also develops the practitioners? knowledge of health research methods and health promotion as well as facilitating detailed study in areas of individual interest.

| Entry Requirements | A candidate shall either: · Hold a Bachelor?s degree in health studies or a closely related field approved by the UNE Faculty Board with a grade point average of credit or above; or · Hold a Bachelor? s with Honours degree in health studies or a closely related field approved by the UNE Faculty; or · Hold the Graduate Diploma in Health Science (Herbal Medicine) from the University of New England with a grade point of Credit or above; Students who enter under this clause are only required to complete a further 24 credit points or · Have adequate academic preparation at the tertiary level in the health area. · |
