Master of Business Administration

Information for Continuing Master of Business Administration Students for 2008

• The Graduate School in Business is responsible for the course. Students with any queries regarding the course should contact the Graduate School of Business.

Course Requirements (pre 2008)
The course work program comprises GSB units to the value of 72 cp. These shall include units to the value of at least 36cp and not more than 54cp from Foundation Units with the remaining units to be selected from Advanced Units.

Students may elect to participate in a general MBA, which provides a solid foundation of knowledge in each of the key areas of management, or may specialise in one of a number of majors. Students completing a General MBA will not have a major listed on their final testamur at graduation.

GSB 701 or 702, 721, 725, 726, 728, 731, 738, 741, 742, 743, 748, 751

Advanced Units
GSB 620, 623, 624, 625, 626, 627, 628, 635, 641, 642, 644, 652, 653, 656, 671, 672, 673, 674, 680, 691, 692, 695, 703, 707, 614, 717, 722, 723, 724, 732, 734, 736, 739, 740, 745, 747, 749, 750, 781, 782, 791, 792, 793, 797;
GSB 791, 792, 793 or 797 to be taken with the approval of the Director in a case where a unit has been specifically devised for a particular candidate or candidates.

Majors
Students may choose to complete a major in any of the following areas:
Agribusiness Management, Association Management, Business Law, Educational Management, Human Resource Management, Information Technology Management, International Business, Local Government, Marketing, Professional Accounting, Project Management and Public Sector Management.

A major is one of the following:

Agribusiness Management (GSB 620, 623, 624 and 731) – not available to new students from 2008 and to be phased out by 2009.

Association Management (GSB 702, 731, 738 and 635) - not available to new students from 2008 and to be phased out by 2009.

Business Law (GSB 748, 749, 750 and 695).

Educational Management (GSB 671, 672, 673 and 674).

Human Resource Management (GSB 738, 739, 747 and one unit from 714, 722, 734 and 740).

IT Management (GSB 625, 626, 628 and either 627 or 741).

International Business (GSB 726 and three units from GSB 691, 692, 695, 696, 723, 727 and 736).

Local Government (GSB 702, 731, 738 and 680) - not available to new students from 2008 and to be phased out by 2009.

Marketing (GSB 731, 732, 736 and 737).

Professional Accounting (GSB 701, 711, 728, 741, 743, 748, 703, 749, 750, 641, 642, 644) - not available to new students from 2008 following the introduction of the Master of Professional Accounting.

Project Management (GSB 724, 781, 782 and one other relevant unit as specified by the Director) - not available to new students from 2008 and to be phased out by 2009.

Public Sector Management (GSB 738, 652, 653 and 657).
