Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning offers a thorough grounding in urban and regional planning both to graduates wishing to enter the profession and to practising professionals wishing to upgrade their knowledge.

Entry Requirements

University degree or another tertiary non-degree deemed by the Faculty to be acceptable (equivalent of at least two years' standing) and relevant full-time professional experience.

Information for Continuing Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning Students for 2008

• Continuing Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning students should refer to their letter of admission which advised their individual program of study.

Course Requirements
To qualify for the award a candidate* must pass units to the value of 72 cp*.

1. The following eight core units (48 cp):
ENVE 237 Environmental Engineering
GEPL 322 Cradle to Grave: Population Geography
GEPL 301 Property Development
GEPL 302 Architecture and Urban Design
GEPL 316 Urban Living
GEPL 320 Principles of Development Control
GEPL 345 Regional Development: Processes and Policies (new title)
GEPL 350 Access and Mobility
* Continuing students should refer to units required as advised in their admission letter.

2. In addition elective units to the value of 24 cp must be included. These can be chosen from the following:
ARPA 352 (previously ABAR 355)
ECON 226.
EM 234, 311, 312.
GEPL 304, 307, 311, 314, 321, 324, 335, 341, 344/444 (previously GEAR 343), 352, 359, 361, 370, 399, 454, 455 (12 cp).
HIST 335, 373, 456.
NR 311.
PHIL 366.
RSNR 301 (previously ENVE 433 and 436), 402 (previously ENVE 421), 404 (previously ENVE 423).
SOCY 413 (previously PAIS 411).
