Graduate Diploma in Education
Why study the Graduate Diploma in Education at UNE?
This award qualifies graduates to apply for registration as secondary teachers in Australian states and territories in approved curriculum areas. Secondary candidates are usually required to undertake two curriculum areas. However Music, Mathematics, Science and English are undertaken as double curriculum units and are not taken with any other teaching area.
Clinical Placement or Practical Experience: Students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Education must undertake two practica. These experiences are designed to support students in forming their own links between the academic knowledge they develop at the university and the practical knowledge they can observe, model and individually create within the classroom and school.
On-campus students should be aware that placements are not usually possible in the Armidale area. Generally off-campus students are permitted to undertake their practicum in approved schools of their choice.
