| Overview | Currently enrolled students must complete this course by 31st December 2015. This is an enhanced version of the Bachelor of Science. The course offers students the opportunity to study a range of subjects to an advanced level through extra topics, more challenging laboratory experiments and closer, individual contact with academic staff. Advanced studies are available in Biochemistry, Botany, Biosystematics,Chemistry, Computer Science, Genetics, Mathematics, Physiology, Physics, Microbiology and Zoology. To remain in this degree program, a student must maintain a high level of performance. |
| Entry Requirements | The BSc(Adv) is available for students with an above average HSC score in Science including Chemistry and Physics. HSC Mathematics Extension 1 is recommended. Students that excel in first-year subjects may also be permitted to change from the normal BSc to the BSc(Adv). |

| Other Benefits | BSC(Adv) graduates are qualified to fill high level positions in research establishments (eg, Australian Atomic Energy Commission, Departments of Primary Industry, Resource Management, Water and Land Resources, CSIRO, Environmental Protection Authorities, Forestry Commissions, National Parks and Wildlife Services, hospitals, etc.) and in industry (eg, computing, electronics, lasers, manufacturing, mining, oil companies, consultancy companies, patent offices). |
| Honours | A fourth Honours year is available to students with an above average academic record. Study would be undertaken in one of the disciplines chosen for specialisation leading to the course of Bachelor of Science (Advanced ) with Honours. Completion of the BSc(Adv)(Hons) can lead to further postgraduate study, for example, PhD. |
