| Benefits | Students may spend the first unit of their intercalary year at a university with which the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics has formal agreements or at any other university approved by the School. Currently, agreements or bilateral exchange agreements exist with specific universities in China (Guilin, Xi'an), France (Angers, Saint-Etienne) and French-speaking Canada (Quebec City), Germany (Oldenburg, Trier) and Austria (Graz, Klagenfurt), and Japan (Hiroshima, Kagoshima, Nagoya, Tokyo). Such agreements typically mean that tuition fees are waived, that help is given with finding accommodation and that an element of pastoral care is provided. Some financial assistance is available in connection with study at certain of these universities. |

Information for Continuing Bachelor of Languages and International Business Students for 2008
Course Requirements
To qualify for the degree candidates must successfully complete 192 cp including:
• not more than 60 cp at 100 level;
• units to the value of 36 cp at 300 level or above, excluding in-country language units (OSLS 391, OSLS 392, OSWP 300).
Comprising
Languages component
• 72 cp in one language (Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese) of which at least 24 cp are 300 level or above, excluding in-country language units;
Or
• 48 cp in one language of which at least 18 cp are 300 level or above, and up to 24 cp from subjects listed for a Bachelor of Arts*.
International Business component
• 72 cp in business, commerce and related units including:
- all units from Group I to a value of 30 cp
- units from Group II to the value of 24 cp
- units from the Schools of Business, Economics and Public Policy; and Law to provide a total of 72 cp.

Intercalary (overseas) Year
At least 48 cp from Overseas study units comprising OSLS 391 and either OSWP 300 or OSLS 392. Students must have approval from the Course Coordinator and the Head of the School of Arts before enrolling in these units.
