The Law degree is accredited by the Legal Practitioners Admission Board of NSW for admission to practice in that State and mutual recognition legislation extends this recognition to other Australian jurisdictions.

| Benefits | The Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Legal Practitioners Admission Board of NSW for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW and mutual recognition legislation extends admission to other Australian jurisdictions. After completion of academic qualifications in law, entry to legal practice also requires the completion of a Practical Legal Training (PLT) course. Summer Semester provides an opportunity for students to fast-track their academic progression or to catch up on units required to complete the degree. A selection of units are offered off-campus during the normal semester break from November to February, enabling students to study from home and to accelerate their progress towards graduation. Law Students' Society: There is an active Law Students' Society at UNE, which organises inter-varsity mooting and social activities for students. The Society also represents the interests of Law students through its elected representatives on School Committees and provides a range of services for Law alumni as well as facilitating links between legal practitioners and students. |
| Entry Requirements | Domestic Students Applicants must be graduates of a three-year Bachelor's course who meet all the requirements for undergraduate entry to the University. A sound knowledge of English is essential for enrolment in courses offered by the Faculty of Economics, Business and Law. Law students are expected to have reliable Internet access. An Alternative Entry program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students is conducted by the Oorala Centre at UNE. For information contact the Centre on (02) 6773 3034. International Students: School Leavers - Prospective International school leavers must meet at least one of the criteria, irrespective of the study location or study mode, with the UNE policy on English Language Admission Requirements. | Additional Requirements | Non-Graduate Entry: Applicant must have at least three years relevant documented legal work experience as determined by the Course Co-ordinator (Law) which involves administration and/or interpretation of law ? eg legal secretary, police prosecutor ? and meet the University's criteria for Alternative Entry. |

| Honours | Bachelor of Laws with Honours (LLB Hons): Students who have achieved a grade point average of 5.5 or better in the preceding eight law units (P=4, C=5, D=6, HD=7) may be admitted to the Honours program in the final year of study. This program is based on a thesis of up to 15,000 words. The Honours result is based on the grade awarded for the thesis plus grades for the best 15 units taken towards the degree. |
