Summer Semester provides an opportunity for students to fast-track their academic progression or to catch up on units required to complete the degree. A selection of units is offered off-campus during the normal semester break from November to February, enabling students to study from home and to accelerate their progress towards graduation.

Entry Requirements

Entry to the first year of the degree is open to students who have obtained an appropriate NSW University Admission Index (UAI) or Queensland Tertiary Equivalent score or an equivalent qualification. Alternative Entry is available. Students are required to provide information relating to their previous work and academic experiences.

Apart from proficiency in English there are no prerequisite courses for enrolment in first-year units offered by the Faculty of Economics, Business and Law.

However, for some units in the economics, finance and quantitative areas it is recommended that students have previously studied mathematics.

An Alternative Entry program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students is conducted by the Oorala Centre at UNE. For further information contact the Centre on (02) 6773 3034.

Advanced Standing UNE recognises that some enrolling students have prior knowledge from other courses or practical experience that is similar to some of the units to be studied in their new course. Advanced standing allows this prior learning to be counted towards a new award, provided the student still meets the rules of the new award. Each application is decided individually and applicants must provide documentation to support their application for advanced standing in each unit. The general rules for advanced standing in the Faculty of Economics, Business and Law can be found in the UNE Handbook.
Fast Track Summer Semester is available (full fees apply)
Honours Students with above average grades are encouraged to undertake a fourth year of advanced study in their major, leading to the degree of Bachelor of Economics with Honours.
Scholarships The University offers a number of Faculty/College and country scholarships available to Australian citizens and permanent residents.
