Bachelor of Communication Studies
Information for Continuing Bachelor of Communication Studies Students for 2008
Course Requirements (before 2008)
To qualify for the degree candidates must successfully complete 144 cp by selecting units in subjects as listed for the Bachelor of Arts* (see below) including:
(a) not more than 60 cp at 100 level, of which at least 12 cp must be in the Communication Studies subject and not more than 12 cp at 100 level may be from any other single subject;
(b) one of the Communication Studies programs set out below;
(c) at least 36 cp at 300 level.
Communication Studies Programs
1. Communication Studies
Candidates must include:
(a) 72 cp from the following: ABEN 373; ARPA 335 (no longer offered); COMM 120, 180, 315, 321, 323, 325, 383, 385, 386; ECT 303; ECTW 300, 324 (previously ECTW 124); ENCO 100, 102 (previously ECT 102), 306, 307, 308, 310, 326, 328, 329; ENGL 304; LING 150/250; SOCY 332; THEA 110/210, 321; WGCO 327 (previously ECWG 327), 388, 389 (no longer offered);
(b) not more than 36 cp in subjects taught by Schools other than the Schools of Arts, Humanities and Behavioural, Cognitive & Social Sciences.
2. Writing
Candidates must include:
(a) units to the value of at least 48 cp from the following: COMM 323, 386; ECT 303; ECTW 300; ENCO 100, 102 (previously ECT 102), 306, 308, 326, 328, 329; ENGL 304; THEA 321; WORK 300 (if in a field approved by Course Coordinator);
(b) units to the value of at least 36 cp from the following: COMM 120, 180, 315, 321, 325, 383, 385; ECTW 324 (previously ECTW 124); ENGL 305, 310; THEA 110/210; WGCO 327 (previously ECWG 327), 388, 389 (no longer offered);
(c) units to the value of not more than 36 cp in subjects taught by Schools other than the Schools of Arts, Humanities and Behavioural, Cognitive & Social Sciences.

In 2007course rules, majors were available to students who have completed specified Advanced Diploma programs with JMC Academy in: Digital Television Production, Digital Animation and Audio Engineering.
