Counselling Self-Help Podcasts, CD's and Fact Sheets
UNE Student Assist has a series of podcasts available. The "Counselling Self-Help" series provides information in an easy to listen format. Read on for a brief description of the content of each podcast. The podcasts are complimented by a series of Fact Sheets. Fact Sheets can be collected from UNE Student Assist reception or downloaded. Podcasts can be downloaded HERE. If this option is not available to you (you will need Internet Explorer version 7 or Firefox), contact us and we will forward a CD to you.
CDs can also be collected from our reception or via mail order. Order forms are available for download HERE, and can to be posted or faxed to us.

This Podcast/CD provides beginning off-campus students with some practical information about how to access academic, personal and financial assistance at university, as well as some tips on time management and strategies for building confidence in your academic ability.

Unwind with Meditation and Relaxation
This Podcast/CD explores the nature of stress and how relaxation and meditation are beneficial in reducing stress. In particular, it focuses on the practice of meditation, explores what it is, how it is beneficial and how to go about incorporating meditation in everyday life. This Podcast/CD also includes a guided relaxation sequence that can be used on it's own plus a shorter relaxation sequence to prepare for meditation practice.

Perform Well: Dealing with Examination and Performance Anxiety
This Podcast/CD examines how you can change your thinking and your behaviour in order to reduce any anxiety about completing exams or presentations of your work. The Podcast/CD assists you to manage your physical responses. It also includes two guided relaxation visualisation exercises that take you through a "successful" exam or presentation.

How to Stay Sane Whilst Writing a Thesis
This Podcast/CD is full of hints to help you survive writing a research thesis, either at Masters or PhD level. It addresses how to get the best out of your supervisor, finding a topic and maintaining a focus and direction, time management, maintaining self-confidence through the highs and lows, pushing through a writer's block, and working in isolation. It also features an interview with some postgraduates who have survived the journey of thesis writing.

Healing and Pain Management
The aim of the Podcast/CD is to help the listener to be pro active in their pain management and encourage ways to live a satisfying life whilst they are dealing with the challenging symptoms of pain and/or ill health. This Podcast/CD explores different approaches to pain management including psychological approaches and practical strategies. It includes meditation and visualisation techniques for reducing and managing pain and a healing meditation for ill health.
