Copying for Examinations
Any quanitity of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works can be copied or adapted without infringement as part of a question to be answered in an examination, or in an answer to such a question. In this context the exam needs to be part of a unit's formal assessment process, not simply used as a teaching resource or a practice paper. This exception applies to copies only, not communications.
Note: If an exam is subsequently copied or communicated (for example reporduced in course materials, or emailed to students) as a teaching resource, this needs to be done under the provisions of the Educational Licences (see the Part VB Licence, the Part VA Licence and the Tertiary Music Licence) or other copyright exceptions. The usual restrictions will apply and some changes to the quantity of material used may be necessary. It is also necessary to properly acknowledge the source.
Dixson Library manages online access to exam papers.
