Consultancies

Consultancies in 2006 have focussed on local government amalgamations. Centre members have assisted councils in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia in dealing with state-government imposed amalgamation proposals.

The Director and Deputy Director made substantial contributions to the Independent Inquiry into the Financial Sustainability of NSW Local Government in late 2005 and early 2006.

Other Activities

In September 2006 Director of the CLG, Professor Brian Dollery, visited Professor Lorenzo Robotti, coordinator of OPERA, a research team working in the area of local public economics at the Università Politecnica delle Marche in Ancona, Italy.
