Workshops, Seminars and Short Courses

Amalgamation Seminar. A seminar was held at UNE on 2nd December, to review the NSW Government's amalgamation approaches.

Review of Part 3 of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act. A seminar was held on Thursday, 27th May as part of a series of seminars by the NSW Department of Urban Affairs and Planning. The seminar focussed on the plan making process and responded to the Green Paper issued by the Department in early 1999.

Research

The community outcomes project. Compared outcomes of local government reform processes. The study involved a selection of council in NSW and Victoria and was being undertaken in collaboration with RMIT.

The Local Government Bibliography. An annotated bibliography of key local government writings from 1992.

Is Bigger Better. An AIUS research report prepared by the CLG on local government structural reform. What reform model is appropriate for NSW as we move towards a new political landscape? This volume summarizes the latest research findings on reform Australia-wide and proposes a clear and achievable reform framework for NSW that meets the needs of communities, local government and state government.

Local Government - One Industry, many perspectives. An AIUS research report prepared by the CLG on local government structural reform. An investigation into the economics, practicality, outcomes and attitudes associated with local government reform in Australia.
