çeviri için tıklayın ...Yılanlı Island is an important viewing point for the port of Kelenderis (excavated since 1987 by Levent Zoroğlu) and the whole coast. The mosaic showing the port in the 5th/6th century AD contains two boats, showing the importance of shipping in the area.
In 1998 Volkan Evrin of METU SAD and SAAG found a wreck off this island. It was surveyed in 2000, and in 2004 detailed examination began. Grids were put in place. Two amphoras were raised, along with three stone anchors and one of iron. They are now in Silifke Museum on display. The iron anchor contains wood and has been dated to between 200 BC and 200 AD. The stone one is Late Bronze Age. The ceramics seem to be Late Roman but need further study.
Yılanlı Ada, Kelenderis liman kentini (kentteki kazılar 1987’den bu yana Levent Zoroğlu tarafından yürütülmektedir) ve tüm sahili gören önemli bir noktadadır. Demir çapa ahşap da içermektedir ve analizlere göre MÖ 200 ile MS 200 arasına tarihlenmiştir. Taş olan Geç Tunç Çağına aittir.
