Community Mentoring Program
The UNE Community Mentoring Program is a leadership program with a focus on Business, Economics, Public Policy and Law. The Program aims to empower and inspire UNE students by giving them an opportunity to participate in a work place setting and to establish professional relationships through a mentor.
The programs aim is to increase UNE students chances of gaining professional employment in their chosen field of study.
Applications for the 2012 program are now CLOSED.
What is the mentoring program?
Students are selected on a formal competitive basis through application and interview. There are limited places available.
UNE program co-ordinators will recruit mentors based on their work and life experiences from all sectors of the work force. Our mentors have a willingness to share their time and skills with students, making their workplace available for visits.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible if you are studying on campus:
- Business/Agribusiness
- Accounting and Finance
- Financial Services
- Marketing
- Management
- Human Resource Management
- Economics
- Agricultural and Resource Economics
- Organisational Leadership
- Law
Your role as the student
You will be expected to participate and organise both yourself and your mentor. This means that you need to schedule time (a minimum of 35 hours) to spend with your mentor enabling you to negotiate your activities and discussions.
Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
- Observation;
- Research;
- Project work; and
- Presentations.
You will also be expected to attend various seminars/workshops at the UNE:
- Induction
- Launch—introduction to your mentor
- 2 Professional Development workshops
- Debrief session
- Graduation
