About Wright Village

Residential System

Wright Village is part of the wider University of New England Residential System that comprises 7 other Residential Colleges providing accommodation for just over 2000 internal students.

Style of Accommodation

Wright Village provides accommodation for 300 Residents in self catering flats of either 4 bedrooms, 6 bedrooms or 8 bedrooms. Each single bedroom is furnished and flats contain shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. Residents provide their own linen, towels and cooking utensils and crockery. Laundry facilities are located close to every flat and include coin operated washing machines and dryers.

Location

Wright Village is located at the southern end of the campus close to several other Residences. The main campus is a 10 minute stroll away, as is SportUNE and the Library. A bus stop is located across the road from Wright Village with a regular bus service operating into town and to the main campus.

Demographics

Wright Village is a diverse and dynamic community and home to almost 300 students studying full-time at The University of New England. In 2005, 40% of Residents came from overseas and 30% of Residents were post-graduate students. From time to time, accommodation permitting, applications for accommodation from students studying university entrant courses at TAFE, or visiting lecturers from other countries, may be granted accommodation

Eligibility

All Residents are required to have demonstrated independent living (a minimum of 12 months) prior to moving into Wright Village and must maintain an appropriate level of academic performance to secure ongoing accommodation at the Village. Resident misconduct is not tolerated at Wright Village and suspension from living at Wright Village maybe the result of inappropriate behaviour.
