SCR Picnic

The SCR Picnic Fundraiser was held on Sunday, 21st of October at the Pollards home in their beautiful garden overlooking Armidale. The event raises money for College scholarships. Several Page students provided musical accompaniment and the College Choir performed a number of items, including an impromtu 'Happy Birthday' for Master David Ward. A wonderful time was had by all, and we could not have asked for better weather.

Sporties Dinner

Everyone had a ball at Sporties Dinner on Wednesday 10th October. This year’s guest speaker was Mark Lowe, Former Pagite, UNE Alumnus and current Sports editor with ABC Radio New England. The night was full of laughs, awards and good fun was had by all.

European TV Crew

European TV crews recently conducted a film shoot using "Pagites" for a story on Australian Universities, specifically the University of New England. The footage will air throughout Europe in the coming months. Thanks to all those who participated.

Open Day

Open day was a huge sucess this year with over 580 prospective students flooding through the doors of Earle Page College. All were entertained by our two DJ's Simo and Mitch, Dan Larkin on guitar, and also Maurie the Magpie. Congratulations to Student Marketing Officer - Evatt Styles and his team of friendly and enthusiastic tour guides for a job well done!

This year Earle Page is proud to announce that the women of College won the inter-college Mary Bagnall competition. The men of EPC also came second in the President's Trophy competition.

Coast Run Achievement

The Earle Page Charity Coast Run has already reached its target of raising $30,000 for the Childrens Medical Research Institute this year. Blake Shuttleworth and his committee have put in a huge effort this year raising the money and running events such as Fashion Parade, the Auction at Parents Weekend, inter-floor events and selling Discount Cards. The runners will set out from the front lawn of Earle Page and make their way to Coffs Harbour (220km away) on 15th September. If you want to know more about Coast Run click here.

Politics Dinner

This year's Annual Earle Page College Politics Dinner & Lecture was held in the Earle Page College Dining Hall on Wednesday 22nd August. The lecture was delivered by Mr Tony Windsor, Member for New England, and the topic of the lecture was 'Country Independence - The Way Forward'.

'Aspects of Antiquities' Lecture Series

There was another lecture this week in the Aspects of Antiquities Lecture Series that was held in the College in conjunction with the UNE School of Humanities. The lecturer was Professor Wolf-Dietrich Niemeier Director of the German Archaeological Institute at Athens, who gave a lecture entitled 'The kouros of the Sacred Gate: new finds of Archaic marble statues in the Kerameikos at Athens'. Professor Niemeier spoke about his exciting discovery of the group of well-preserved statues that he discovered in central Athens in 2001. He is pictured with his archaeologist wife, Barbara.

Parents Weekend

This year's Parents Weekend saw many parents coming to visit their sons and daughters, seeing how they live at Earle Page.

On Friday 10th August Annual Dinner was held, which included the presentation of Academic Achievement Awards, an additional Country Women's Assocation of NSW / Earle Page College Equity Scholarship, the New England Credit Union - Earle Page Entrance Scholarship, and the Scott Williams Opportunity Scholarship. As well as this the SCR/McCarroll Prize for Performing Arts was presented.

The Annual Coast Run Charity Auction was held on Saturday, raising money for the Childrens Medical Research Institute. On Saturday night EPC residents and their families attended the closing night of the annual musical 'Bye Bye Birdie'.

All in all it was a fun weekend for everyone involved.


Bye Bye Birdie

This year's musical was Bye Bye Birdie and it was a great success. Everyone involved, including cast, crew and the band, put in a lot of effort and made the show a magnificent performance that was enjoyed by College residents, parents and the wider community.

'Aspects of Antiquity' Lecture

The 'Aspects of Antiquity Lecture' was held in the Earle Page College Gallery on Thursday 2nd August. The speaker was Mr Erik Hammer, Department of Classics at Columbia University, and the topic was 'Divini elementa poetae: on "Young Vergil's" poetry'.

EPC Choir

On the 4th of June the Earle Page College Choir competed in the Armidale Regional Eisteddfod. The choir came 1st in the Open 10-20 Singers section, and 3rd in the Open section. This is a great effort for the choir, which is made up of EPC residents and directed by Deidre Rickards, a professional Choir Director.

Small Music Ensemble

This year for Small Music Ensemble Earle Page College performed a selection of songs from the Beatles. It was an excellent performance by our talented musicians and singers, and overall we came 3rd on the night. Each of the groups had to perform a compilation of music tied together with a theme for 8 to 10 minutes, and the groups must have 2-15 performers.

Arts Dinner

The theme for 2007's Charity Arts Dinner, held by the SFK committee, was Myths and Legends. All the floors came dressed as different myths and legends, from braveheart, to cavemen, to cowboys and indians, and mythbusters, and more. There were many performances during the night, all of which were peformed by residents of the college, including music items, juggling and a sneak preview at the item to be performed at the SFK Small Music Ensemble.

Fashion Parade A Huge Success

This year the annual Coast Run Fashion Parade raised over $8000 for the Children's Medical Research Institute, which is twice as much as last year! The Fashion Parade was held, as usual, at the Armidale Ex-Services Club and the models consisted of college students, college staff and a few local kids, modelling clothes from various businesses in Armidale. Earle Page College and the Coast Run Committee would like to thank everyone who gave their time and effort to help put on such a successful night.


Reunion Dinner

A Reunion Dinner for Old Pagites working in Canberra was held in April. It was organised by former Resident Fellow, Tom Fell, and the College Master attended.

Cab Ball, Yargh!

Pirates was the theme at Earle Page's Annual Cab Ball 2007, and was held not at College this year, but instead at Echnida Gully. As always it was an awesome night, with all putting a lot of effort into the pirate them. It was followed, as usual, by Cab Recovery the next day, which featured everyone sporting their new floor shirts and lazing about in the sun.

C Block Beach Party

The first block party of the year was C Block's Beach Party. The night was a great success with all the residents dressed up in beach gear and as usual C block helped the JCR with the decorations. This year the JCR hired a mechanical surfboard for the night, which was enjoyed by all.

Introductory Dinner

Intro dinner is the first formal dinner of the year, and it is the first time the freshers get to dress up in their academic gowns. This year saw speeches from the President of the JCR, Mr Jonathon Schumack, the College Master, Mr David Ward, and the Deputy Chancellor of the University, Mr James Harris. Awards, Academic Prizes and Scholarships were presented, and the College witnessed the first performance from the new EPC choir.

'New Look' EPC Choir

This year Earle Page is proud to inform that the choir is under the leadership of professional Choral Director, Mrs Deidre Rickards. It should be an exciting year for members of the choir, as not only are they going to be performing at formal dinners, but they have also been entered into the Armidale Eisteddfod. Their first performance is at the Introductory Dinner.

O-Week
A Great Start To A New Year

Orientation week 2007 at Earle Page was a huge success, with freshers experiencing a busy timetable full of academic and social activities. On Friday the Gerro's returned for events such as Bush Dance and Surf Carnival. Thank you to the JCR and other committees for organising a great week.
