Paper Submission

Call for abstracts

We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the IVCHB2008 Symposium. You are invited to contribute an abstract for either an Oral Paper Presentation or a Poster Presentation. Abstracts addressing some aspect of the symposium theme, 2020 Vision for in vitro horticultural breeding, are encouraged but abstracts dealing with any aspect of horticultural biotechnology will be very welcome.

You do not have to be a current member of the ISHS to submit an abstract, however, registration fees are much lower for members than for non-members. If you are considering joining the society, more information and membership benefits can be found on the ISHS website.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Abstracts of 200-300 words and written in English, should be submitted online by February 1, 2008.

The Call for Abstracts is now closed, and the review process is underway. Notifications will be sent soon after March 14.

Alternatively, abstracts can be typed in Microsoft Word and emailed, as an attachment, to the Symposium Secretariat, by February 1, 2008.

If emailing, please include the following:

• Title of presentation;
• Author(s) full name(s) - with the presenting author underlined;
• Institutional affiliation or organisation;
• Complete mailing address with telephone, fax, and email; and
• Specify Paper or Poster.

Abstract submissions will be acknowledged by return email and acceptances will be communicated by March 14, 2008.

At least one author of an accepted abstract should be registered to attend the symposium by April 30, 2008. This is necessary to ensure that we have a reliable program for all registrants. Please note that the Symposium Organisers regret that they cannot waive registration fees or pay travel expenses for presenters of accepted abstracts.

Review Process

The abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee to determine their suitability for the symposium. The accepted abstracts of oral and poster presentations will be published in the Symposium Program and Book of Abstracts which will be distributed to all symposium attendees and posted on IVCHB2008 website.

Guidelines for submission of full papers

Each accepted paper should be written according to the ISHS instructions that can be found on the ISHS web page at www.ishs.org/wri/pap1.htm. Please note that the length of a full paper including the relevant tables and figures for poster presentations should be 4 pages, for oral presentations 6 pages and for keynote lectures 8 pages. Full papers should be submitted as an email attachment, and must reach the Symposium Secretariat by June 13, 2008. All submitted papers will be reviewed by two referees prior to acceptance for publication in Acta Horticultureae.

Oral presentations

The oral presentations must be delivered in 15 minutes; following by 5 minutes question time. The keynote lectures leading each session will be of 40 minutes, plus 10 minutes for discussion.

Poster presentations

There will be an official poster session during the symposium where authors are requested to be present in order to answer questions. The poster dimension is maximum 90 cm wide x 120 cm high. The text should be readable from a distance of 1-2 meters. The poster title should be 3-4 cm high. Author(s) name(s), institution and address(es) should be 2-3 cm high. Please underline the name of the presenting author and include their email address.
