ACTIVITIES

The Association organises and participates in a number of community awareness initiatives that include: UNE O-week; Socio-cultural activities - International Week, Autumn Festivals; Harmony Day; Public Lectures/debates - Club Earth's programs; Picnics and recreational sports; Commnunal luncheon/receptions - Armidale civic reception, welcoming of new students, farewell for returing students; and Excursions/bush trips - AIA activities, with an aim of promoting cross-cultural interaction among members and with the community.

African Food Fair – All members of the community welcome

<>3. End of 3rd Term Community Service: Armidale Children’s House Montessori School.
Date: 15th to 26th September 2003
What: Participating is a range of activities reflecting on African diverse cultures – cooking demo, oral stories, cultural artifacts, dance, etc.
Who: Individuals members as well as specific country groups are encouraged to organize presentations of between 30 to 60 mins all relevant to 3 – 6 year olds (Pre-school).

4. October Graduation UNE
Dates: 11th October 2003
In the history of AFSA and perhaps UNE, 6 AFSA members have completed their PHDs and almost all (see the newsletter) will be conferred on the 11th of Oct together with two undergraduate members who finished in semester 1.
So: All AFSA members are invited to join the graduands in celebrating their career achievements at UNE and to partake in a festivity following the graduation in a Venue to be advised.

5. End of academic year party
Dates: Either Saturday 15th or Friday 21st November 2003
Venue: To be advised.

6. African Food Fair – All members of the community welcome
