Application Process

Bachelor of Medicine Application Procedure

Start Early!

Candidates wishing to gain entry to the Bachelor of Medicine must begin their application process during the first half of the year for commencement in the following year.

There are THREE (3) applications that must be made to be eligible to be considered for entry to the Bachelor of Medicine - JMP. An overview of these applications and their dates are listed below.

What When
1. UMAT

You must register for and sit the Undergraduate Medical and Health Sciences Admissions Test (UMAT).

  • Opens in mid-April.
  • Closes early June.
  • Late applications are accepted for a further two weeks but attract a late penalty fee.
  • The test is held at the end of July.
Applications are currently closed.
2. JMP

You must lodge an online university application form directly with the Joint Medical Program (JMP) indicating your preferred enrolment location of either University of New England or University of Newcastle.

  • Opens in mid-August.
  • Closes end of September.
  • Late applications are NOT accepted.
Applications are currently closed.
3. UAC

You must lodge an online application form with the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) and include Bachelor of Medicine - JMP (UAC Code 780000 - CSP) among your preferences.

  • Closes end of September.
  • Late applications are accepted till end of November but attract a late penalty fee.
