For graduates who did not have the opportunity to study Linguistics as part of their first degree and would now like to do so, most undergraduate units in Linguistics can be taken (with different assessment requirements) as part of The Graduate Diploma in Humanities. Doctor of Philosophy
The PhD in Linguistics is the highest academic award. It is a research degree normally completed in three years of full-time study or six years of part-time study. The minimum requirement for entry to an MA Hons and PhD program is a strong result in an Honours degree in Linguistics. Other candidates with a good background in linguistics may be able to gain entry by first doing a Preliminary program, which is normally one year of full-time study in a specially tailored program.
