The BA – MyDegree

What to Study?

Want a broad-ranging degree that will prepare you for anything and everything? The Bachelor of Arts is for you. The BA gives you the flexibility to tailor a unique degree to suit your individual interests and strengths. The Bachelor of Arts is for students looking to enhance their career prospects and personal interests by acquiring a range of analytical and communication skills.

Why study the Bachelor of Arts at UNE?

Who to Speak to?

The BA involves the study of human societies from a variety of historical, geographic, sociological, scientific, religious, literary and artistic perspectives. Disciplines in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences offer an intellectually exciting education that provides both vocational skills and the foundation for lifelong learning. The Bachelor of Arts course provides the skills of independent thinking and cultural awareness that underline the creation of an equitable, humane and inventive society.

At UNE you will be invited to combine an initial breadth of study with an eventual depth of understanding. You start by choosing units from four or more subject areas, before specialising in those areas that hold your interest. You will finish with at least one major from the 33 subject areas available. You will develop both a set of specific skills, and a breadth of knowledge, allowing for a more flexible response to the many opportunities in respect to work, postgraduate study, or personal interests.

Careers

A Bachelor of Arts is a valuable degree because it allows graduates to pursue a greater range of careers than is available to students who undertake highly specialised degrees. Examples of career paths include management, public and industrial relations, foreign affairs, education, media and communications, business, marketing, tourism, human resources, research, psychology, archaeology and creative arts. The employability of Arts graduates is a reflection of the skills they acquire during their study and this is becoming widely acknowledged.
