Social Life
All residents are part of the AUSTIN COLLEGE CLUB.
The Austin College Club is the association of all students, Resident Fellows and Fellows of the College. It provides many amenities, services and facilities, plus the organisation of social and sporting activities throughout the year. All members are ensured an equal opportunity to participate in the activities and management of the Club and the yearly elections of the College Club Committee and ACC President. Austin College is well known for its social events, all organised by the Committee. You can look forward to the famous Bierfest, Theme Nights, Block events, Balls and Recreation Days... all paid for by your annual subscription (paid at the start of each year).
Formal Dinners are held throughout the year. These are a great opportunity to dress up, out on your traditional academic gown, and have a gourmet meal with friends. The Dinners celebrate the acheivements of the college throughout the year. Talent Nights, fundraisers and silly-dress-up parties are also held regularly.
The Large Common Room is an area where Austin Students can relax and enjoy a movie on the couches, or play table tennis or video games.
The Courtyard and BBQ areas are also used as areas in which to play sport, celebrate birthdays or have a few quiet beers on a Sunday afternoon.
There is always something happening at College, you will never be bored! All social events stop running two weeks before exams start to allow everyone to concentrate on their studies. At all other times during the academic year, Resident Fellows moniter noise levels and students can call the Duty Phone at any time of day (or night) and get a Resident Fellow to deal with any noise issues.
