Cultural Life
The Sir Frank Kitto Competition (SFK)

Artists... musicians... writers... performing artists... public speakers...poets – We Want You! We also want aspiring artists, musicians, writers, performing artists, public speakers and poets who just want to have fun and ‘give it a go’. Austin College is proud of its cultural reputation and its history of talented competitors in the Sir Frank Kitto Competition. This is the cultural equivalent of the Mary Bagnall and President’s Trophy sporting competitions. Residents from the seven colleges, Wright Village and affiliates compete in many events, including Debating, Poetry and Short Story writing, Art and Craft Exhibitions, Photography, Performing Arts, Theatre Sports, Public Speaking and Small Music Ensemble. There are no pre-requisites for participating or playing – it’s just about having fun at University whilst obtaining your degree.
Austin College also holds an evening during the year to showcase the talents (of which there are many) of Austin students. At each formal dinner, our talented students also perform to entertain the College.
