One of the more contemporary colleges, Austin is a college for students who want to get more out of their university experience than just a degree. It is a place that supports and nurtures its residents. Epitomised by genuine, down to earth people, Austin has a responsible and caring environment.
We’re optimists who see the lighter side of life and try not to take things too seriously. We respect the ‘Traditional Aussie’ lifestyle, enjoying BBQs, giving things a go and welcoming all into the fold. We encourage the concept that the more energy you put into your college the more you get out of it.
Austin College has invented its own sport ‘Noona’. As part of the colleges Floor Trophy Competition it requires participants to wear war paint and play with a mix of rules borrowed from touch football and AFL. It is played in the sunny, grassy courtyard by both males and females and is hotly contested. The sport ties in to a student exchange program set up with Washington State University, where the Universities swap a student for a year.
