Academic Mentors
ACADEMIC MENTORS
The academic mentor program begins with a two-day workshop presented by the Academic Skills Centre. This workshop focuses on giving the senior the confidence to offer academic assistance. The role of the Academic Mentor is proactive, in that they are expected to go out to the student and not merely to be available if approached. The Academic Mentors meet on a weekly basis with the Assistant Master and Senior Resident Fellow to discuss strategies being employed and any problems encountered.
This role is focused on helping the transition from school to university. The mentors are also responsible for disseminating information about the other programs offered by the Academic Skills Office and encouraging the first year students to avail themselves of these services.
