MISSION To address environmental and social impact issues of resource development in Asia through the development and application of interdisciplinary concepts, theories, frameworks and methods. VISION The Research Program aims to enhance the UNE Asia Centre's capacity as an outstanding centre of international significance for fundamental, applied and interdisciplinary research. For the period 2000-2004, the Research Program will: Develop support for theoretical and fundamental studies of the complex interactions between people, their institutions, resource development and the environment. Initiate cross-disciplinary frameworks that integrate physical, biological and social sciences. Continue and develop links with Asian and Australian government and non-government agencies and international agencies involved in policy analysis and formulation, resource development and environmental management in Asia. Educate a new generation of environmental scientists and managers with integrative skills. Strengthen cross-campus links between Faculties in the University of New England and with other Australian universities.
