Prior to joining the University of Sydney in 1997, Ramesh taught at Simon Fraser University, the National University of Singapore, Victoria University of Wellington, and the University of New England. He has also held visiting appointments at the University of Western Ontario, Harvard University, University of Bergen, City University of Hong Kong, and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies.
He currently teaches in the areas of international political economy, Asian Pacific politics, and public policy in the newly industrialising countries.
Research interests and current research projects related to Asia:
Prof. Ramesh's current research focuses on public policy in East Asia. Currently at advanced stages of completing a book on "Social Development Policies in Northeast Asia".
Other relevant information:
Prof. Ramesh has published widely in senior refereed journals, and contributed numerous articles to edited books and academic conferences.He has also received several research grants and served as consultant to various international agencies. He is currently working on an ARC Large Grant Funded Project on "ILO, IMF, and World Bank in the Domestic Policy Processes in the Philippines and Thailand".
