Dr Healy has particular interests in the area of Chinese politics and society; Chinese Marxism and Mao Zedong Thought; environmental politics in China; Japanese society; women in Asian societies; and Australia-Asia relations. He is the co-editor of Critical Perspectives on Mao Zedong's Thought, published by Humanities Press. He has been Sub-Dean for Asian Studies and is currently Chair of the Board of Studies in Social Studies.

Research Interests: Chinese Marxism and Mao Zedong Thought; environmental politics in China.
Current Projects: environmental organisations in China; environmental implications of China's WTO entry.
