The UNE Mentor Program -- School of Arts
The UNE Mentor Program
UNE Mentor is a program for HSC English (Extension 2) students delivered by The University of New England.
UNE Mentor is an innovative online learning project operated by the School of Arts at the University of New England. UNE Mentor provides students undertaking Extension Two HSC English with interactive support on their Major Work. Students receive this support from mentors, who are doctoral candidates and professional writers affiliated with or employed by the School.
UNE Mentor is run with the support of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and members of the School of Education at the University of New England. It has also been developed in consultation with officers of the English Teachers' Association of New South Wales, including branch presidents and vice-presidents from Armidale and Coffs Harbour.
Mentors operate an Online Discussion Forum, through the university's online learning management system, Moodle, where students post queries and talk about their Major Work projects. They receive feedback from mentors, and also from their peers, and establish a supportive online community.
In late April/early May, mentors run a one-day on-campus Workshop, in which students meet face-to-face, work on their projects individually and in groups, and are given a taste of university life.
