The Audition
There are three components to the audition – a practical performance, a theory examination and a personal statement. Students wanting to be accepted into the Bachelor of Music course or the Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Teaching course must pass all three components. To register for an audition, applicants must complete and submit the 'Application to Audition' form. (Please scroll down to bottom of this page for the link.) This application will be acknowledged and students will be provided with detailed information regarding the audition process.
General Audition Information
Practical Performance
Students are required to perform two contrasting pieces totalling up to 10-15mins. (i.e. different genres, or styles or tempo or articulation. This could also consist of two distinctly contrasting pieces within the same genre). One of the aims of undertaking the performance audition is to demonstrate the varied aspects of your musical abilities. Pieces chosen should be at least Grade 6 AMEB (or equivalent) level or higher.
