Arts New England
The establishment in 2009 of Arts New England, a UNE Centre for Research and Innovation in the Arts, introduces to New England a research centre that co-ordinates and implements a dynamic portfolio of activities that reflect UNE’s research impact and reputation in the Arts with a particular focus on interdisciplinary work that involves innovation and the Arts.
The Centre provides support to develop the research excellence currently being achieved in the School of Arts and throughout the University and supports UNE researchers’ capacity to undertake world-class research in the areas of the School of Arts’ four major research themes: Writing Studies; Languages, Literatures and Cultures; Creativity and Performance; and Imagination, Interpretation and Transformation.
The Centre aims to provide a focus and visible presence for the development of research collaborations between institutions and with professional organisations, both nationally and internationally, as well as productive collaborative engagement with regional arts communities. Arts New England is exploring new opportunities for research and other outreach activities that foster social inclusion and strengthen the local cultural fabric and social outcomes.
