Membership is open to anyone holding an appointment in political science or allied subjects in a university or university college in Australia or New Zealand. Other persons whose participation in the activities of the Association is likely, in the opinion of the Executive, to be advantageous to political studies may be admitted to membership.
Standard membership costs A$80 p.a., with a special rate of A$30 p.a. for retired/student members. Standard membership may be arranged for three years, at a discount cost of A$210. Members will automatically receive the Journal.

Crisp Medal 1999
The AWARD and a cash prize of $500 will be awarded for originality and intellectual contribution in work in political science published over the three years leading up to the award. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand. Persons who have held a doctorate for ten years or more or whose first appointment to tenurable post at a tertiary institution was ten or more years ago are ineligible.
HOWEVER, SINCE THE PRIZE WAS NOT AWARDED IN 1998 DUE TO INSUFFICIENT MATERIAL BEING SUBMITTED, AUTHORS WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN ELIGIBLE FOR THE 1998 PRIZE BUT WHO WOULD NORMALLY HAVE BEEN INELIGIBLE FOR THE 1999 PRIZE WILL NOW STILL BE ELIGIBLE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE 1999 PRIZE
Candidates may nominate themselves or be nominated by others. Closing date for nominations is 1 JULY 1999. Material MUST reach the Secretary by this date.

This Prize of $1000, is co-sponsored by the Australasian Political Studies Association and the Institute of Public Administration Australia (ACT). It is presented for the best essay on the topic of women and politics broadly defined.
Competition is open to residents of Australia and New Zealand who are undergraduate or postgraduate students;
Essays should be c.5,000 words (7,000 words absolute maximum) and unpublished, although entries which have been accepted for publication are eligible;
Entries must be received by 30 July 99.
