Rethinking learning in your discipline

ULT-Futures 2010 reflects on the diversity of excellent teaching practices and the student learning experience within and across disciplines. Presentations in the form of refereed and non-refereed  papers, roundtables, workshops or posters are invited that focus on the scholarship of learning which particularly examines an application of the scholarship of teaching and learning to discipline-based issues.

Themes may include:

Social inclusion
How do we ensure inclusivity of all students? How do we include students who struggle, for diverse reasons, to engage with our discipline particular disciplines? What are adequate support structures for different disciplinary contexts? How do we ensure students are adequately supported to access technology for learning?

Technology
How do we use technology effectively for teaching in our discipline? What evidence do we have our efforts are useful to students.

Assessment and standards
How do we design assessment for learning in our discipline? How do we create authentic and valid assessment tasks? What are the standards in our discipline and how do we know we are meeting them?

Disciplinary knowledge
What does knowledge mean in our discipline and how do we best facilitate learning?  How do we create authentic learning experiences that result in students understanding knowledge and learning in the discipline?

Current Issues
What are the current issues in learning and teaching  in our discipline? What approaches or strategies could we adopt to address them?

Student engagement
What does student engagement mean in the context of our discipline? How do we encourage student engagement with our discipline? How will we know if students are engaged with our discipline?
