Welcome to my home page. I have been at the University of New England since January 1974 and retired at the start of 1999. My academic interests have been in the collection and use of spatial data. I have seen great changes since I drew my first map some 50 years ago. My career has encompassed cartography, geographic information systems (GIS), photogrammetry, remote sensing and surveying. Apart from my early career in the UK at the University of Glasgow and University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, I have also work for shorter periods in Thailand and China. In recent years I have concentrated on remote sensing and GIS and have developed an interest in computer aided learning. A computer aided learning package on CD called Geoskills:An Introduction to Spatial Data was published early in 2000 - Previews for both PC and Mac are now available. Click here if you wish to have a preview.
After many years of playing indoor soccer I transferred my allegiance to golf and enjoy hunting through the bush for lost balls. I have been a member of St Mark's University Chapel since 1977 and am active with the Armidale International Association (http://www.une.edu.au/ssc/).
