The objective of AIA is to promote social and cultural inter-action between international students and their families and members of the Armidale and UNE communities.
We are here to assist you to settle into Armidale. Our emphasis is on hospitality, sight-seeing, recreation and cultural activities and on helping you make new friends here. In other words, to make your stay in Armidale a pleasant and memorable one.
Members of the AIA committee work voluntarily. We are involved in a wide range of academic, community, government and business activities, so we can draw on many contacts and resources in Armidale and elsewhere to assist you. We work very closely with the University of New England International Office and with the International Students' Association (UNE-ISA). We are also pleased and fortunate that both the Vice-Chancellor of UNE and the Mayor of Armidale strongly support the activities of AIA.
We would like nothing better than that you will feel greatly enriched at the conclusion of your studies at UNE – not only academically, but culturally, intellectually and socially as well, by your having experienced first-hand the ways of Australian life in Armidale.
On behalf of my committee and all the members of AIA, I invite you to browse through our website now, to learn of our various activities and services and to contact us by email (or by letter) for any information and advice you may need before you leave home, and to visit us in person for any help you may need after you arrive.
And then, when you have settled in, we would like you to join with other international students and local Australian members to enjoy some of the memorable cultural and recreational activities of the Armidale International Association.
Best Wishes
